Necklace Chains
Here's where you can find all of the info about each type of chain available for charm necklaces!
It is always recommended to remove your jewelry before you shower, swim, or work-out - yes, even when it's advertised as water resistant!
THE BASICS: PVD > gold plated > base metals
PVD Plated
These chains are verrrrry durable. They are advertised as sweat and water resistant. Using a new-ish technique of plating called Physical Vapor Deposition, stainless steel chains are blasted with gold or silver metals at high temperatures in a vacuum (idk why that's important...sounds tricky). This substantially increases the lifespan of your jewelry!! Price range $16 - $22.
18K Gold Plated
Stainless steel chains coated with 18K gold. Plated jewelry is strong and durable (does not scratch or bend like pure metals). Price $14 - $16.
Specialty
These chains are fun, stylish, and high quality :) The acrylic linked chain is super holographic in the sun, with a slight pink/coral tint. The faux pearl chains are wire wrapped for strength. Both of these chains work perfectly for hanging charms.
Base Metals
Because these chains are not plated, they will tarnish with normal use. When the silver base metal chains wear down their outer layer, the underlying metal is silver and shouldn't show much of a difference. The gold base metal chains will wear down to a brassy color. Price $10 - $14.
